Abstract: Julia is a young but mature programming language which allows one to write fast code fast. Over a two year period, we have developed a Julia toolbox, called MLJ, for training, evaluating, tuning, and composing a large number of machine learning models written in Julia and other languages. The goals of the talk are two-fold: (i) To describe to newcomers the essential features of the Julia programming language which have allowed it solve the “two language problem” in high performance software development; and (ii) Introduce the MLJ machine learning toolbox, focusing on its advanced model composition functionality.
