Abstract: Due to urbanization in the past few decades, various species of bats in New Zealand are facing serious threats, even extinction. In order to learn more about bat allocation and their behaviour, frequency analysis on the audio data collected was conducted and multiple clusters were identified with noticeable patterns. Meanwhile, neural networks, which are based on other audio information – including MFCC and Spectral Contrast, were trained for further analysis and verification. Based on the above discoveries, a further study would focus on more specific bat call identification and classification, like individual bat species identification and meaning around each audio cluster.
